Let Everything that has Breath Praise the Lord -
Psalm 150
1. Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty
heavens.
Everyone worships something. The question is what or who are we worshipping?
At Georgianna we worship God according to what God is seeking for
"Worshippers in Spirit and truth" (John 4:23-24). In other words, we play to
an audience of ONE. Worship is about ascribing "worth" to God, and God
alone. When we gather on Sunday morning we are entering into a divine
dialogue in which we respond to God's goodness in Christ Jesus with our
prayers and praise, hearing His voice speak to us through the preached Word.
2. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing
greatness.
Why do we worship God? We worship God for what He has done (his acts of
power) and for who He is (His surpassing greatness). All worship begins and
ends with God. He initiated this worship in the redemptive work of Jesus -
the Word made flesh who dwelt among us, who came from the Father, and was
full of grace and truth (John 1:14). At Georgianna worship always centers
on, and comes back to the Gospel. We worship God for who He is. God is the
eternal creator and sustainer of life and we praise God for His goodness,
mercy, and His surpassing greatness.
3. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp
and lyre,
4. praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and
flute,
5. praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
God enjoys music. He should - He created it, and His people have always
praised Him through it in a great variety of ways. At Georgianna, we
encourage good musicianship to lead God's people in songs of praise. And at
Georgianna we worship God in many different ways. From songs of our early
traditions to songs written today for people to sing to God above. What ever
service you may attend know that our main goal is to worship and glorify God
for all of His attributes.
6. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
Georgianna is a unique gathering place. Sitting next to you in the pews are
architects, scientists, soldiers and sailors, young people, old people,
people wearing khaki dockers and polo shirts, and people with nose rings and
tattoos. We do not cater to specific ages, genders, or agendas. We seek
those who wish to know God and worship Him in Spirit and truth. We would
love for you to worship with us.
